Welcome

Situated opposite the scenic Dubwath Silver Meadows nature reserve, Bassenthwaite Lake Station is a Café in a restored railway station with a full size replica steam train on the former Cockermouth to Keswick line.

Meals are served from 9am until 3pm. Takeaway drinks can be served from 8am. 

Enjoy breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea aboard the replica Orient Express train.

Our customers can enjoy a short level walk along the platform through the woodland and wild flower meadow or enjoy a peaceful few minutes in the bird hide overlooking the wildlife pond.

Opening Times

Open 7 days a week until 5pm:

Takeaway drinks for early-birds from 8am

Breakfast: 9am - 10:30am

Lunch: 11am - 3pm

Afternoon Tea: 11am - 3pm

Christmas Eve - close at 3pm prompt

27th December, re-open at 11.00 for brunch bookings. No breakfasts served on 27th. 

Closed Christmas, Boxing and New Year's Day.

Booking is strongly advised. Tables on the train seat four and two. Larger groups will be seated on adjacent tables. It is not possible to guarantee any specific table though we will try and accomodate any special requests.
